  • In case you were wondering...

~I have been in three countries:  the United States, Canada, and Belize.
~I absolutely love etiquette, even outdated etiquette.
~I have a faint scar from a burn in April 2007, and I wonder if the scar will eventually go away.
~When I was younger, I would poke a safety pin through the top layer of my skin and make lots of little holes.
~I like the idea of baths much more than actual baths.  When I actually take a bath, I get bored really quickly.

~I learned how to shoot a bow and a rifle when I was ten.
~When I was a kid, I loved strawberries so much that I made up a riddle about them.
~I have never tasted black coffee, only drinks like cappuccinos and mochas.
    ~I love to ultra-organize things.
~The smell of a certain perfume reminds me of the movie "Evita".

~I had never seen a single episode of Friends until it was in its last season.
~I like green tea.  Hot, cold, room temperature, whatever.
~Don't put lime in my beer, thank you.
~I was in colorguard in high school, but only because 9 weeks of CG got me out of a whole semester of gym class.
    ~I miss being in choir.

~I hate that people act shocked when I do something out of character.
    ~I love bowling.
~My all time best bowling score is less than 100.
~If I could go back and choose a different college to attend, I would.
~I would love to be one of those people who plays the guitar.

~If I ever really stop to think about how amazing my mom is, I cry.
~In elementary school, I was top ten in my city for the 50 yard dash.
~I quit playing volleyball and running track after 6th grade.
~I quit gymnastics when I was 13, after 8 years.
~I carried a razor blade with me for over a year.  I never used it.

~I have been deep-sea fishing.  I didn't catch anything, though.
~I love cake.  White cake, with vanilla frosting.  Not the butter cream stuff, either.
~My concepts of God and Jesus have been strongly influenced by the Chronicles of Narnia.
~I love bookstores and libraries.  They just make you feel good.
~The best friends in "My Best Friend's Wedding" remind me of me and my best friend.  Except that I would never try to break up his wedding.

~The only debt that I have is that I am paying my mom back for helping me buy a car.
~I still love spaghettiO's.  Especially on a piece of buttered bread.
~I am sarcastic.  People assume that I am therefore a negative and pessimistic person.
~I hope that my dad gives me away at my wedding, but I won't be surprised if he isn't there.
~I secretly want to be in love, and have someone love me.  Does that make me a romantic?

~I am mostly good at poker because people underestimate me.
~I once won $3 in a Euchre tournament at a Florida retirement community.
~I wish that my mom would be openly happy.  I think she is afraid to show happiness, and I "inherited" it.
~I love the theatre.  Audience, actress, or stagehand.  I love it all.
    ~I like to drink.

~I can't break the habit of biting my nails for anything.
~I love baked, skinless chicken.  Yum.
~I am afraid that I will be too worried about gaining weight when I am pregnant.
~I wish it could snow and be warm at the same time.  That would be sweet.
~When I was 4, I went ice skating for the first time.  And broke my wrist.  I was afraid to skate again for 10 years.

~When I was a kid, I dreamed of being an Olympic gymnast.  Shannon Miller was my hero.
~I still remember the first time I stepped on a scale and weighed over 100 pounds.

~My best friend once gave me the nickname "Cheesemonkey".
~I wish that I knew how to dress with style.

  • From our perspective, the sun's light bends according to the hours and the seasons.  Within the course of a single day, the shadow on a sundial will turn full circle.  The sun's changes ,may be predictable, but they're radical all the same...Yet, the sun never moves.  It's only because we move that its shadows appear to be so capricious.

It's the same with God.  He's the same yesterday, today, and forever.  But how we position ourselves in relation to Him can change our whole lives.

  • Irish girls are unique in their character. They are a combination of a little girl, mother, hooker, and nun. They go from Bambi to Banshee in 3.7 seconds. They can bat their eyes, or blacken yours. They can love you with a passion and make you feel like a king. They can be frail and strong at the same time. Depending on their mood, they'll chastise you for drinking...or match you pint for pint. They keep Irish men from killin' themselves and each other. They are incomprehensible, yet indispensable at the same time.

  • If I find in myself a desire which no experience
in this world can satisfy, the most probable
explanation is that I was made for another world.

  • God intends your and your [spouse's] love
for each other to emulate His love for you
    -- full, complete, and eternal.
    ~Dawn Eden (chapter seven)

What had hit me was that by getting physical with Bill, I was disrespecting God.  The Lord had already chosen a man for me to marry, and I hadn't met him yet.  To fool around with someone who was so clearly not the one God had chosen for me was to say to God, in effect, "You've been taking Your precious time.  Well, I don't have to wait for You.  In fact, I don't even think You're playing with a full deck.  Since You're not giving me what I want, I'm going to take what I can get. So there, Mr. Omnipotent."

  • So much of Christianity is about paradoxes, like Jesus's saying, "Whoever loses his life for my sake will find it" (Matthew 16:25 NASB), or God's telling Paul, "My strength is made perfect in weakness" (2 Corinthians 12:9 NKJV).  There's a cosmic absurdity to being an immaterial soul in a material body; a spirit-driven creature in a flesh-driven world.
    ~Dawn Eden (chapter two)

The love between a husband and a wife, as with all types of love, is fulfilled only when both partners together look beyond externals and discover that something the can't describe binds them together. That something, I believe, is God's own love, and it may truly be called a taste of heaven.
